*Electrical appliances vary based on facility. Residents in traditional halls may have closed coils and UL approved items in student living units. All residents who reside in apartments and in Frontier Hall, Prairie Hall, and Pioneer Hall may have open coil cooking appliances and microwaves as long as they are used in the kitchen areas. Due to the safety hazard of appliances with a heating element the Office of Residence Life and Housing strongly encourages that all electrical appliances that can be equipped with automatic shutoffs are used. Heating pads, irons and coffee makers without automatic shut offs are not permitted.<
